“Time” Concert Raises Money for Music Doing Good Scholarships!

Music Doing Good’s “Time-themed” benefit concert on February 7, 2015 was successful in raising more than $30,000 in scholarships funds for underserved students who wish to pursue music at the university level. Music Doing Good Scholarships are being endowed at University of St. Thomas, Texas Southern University and University of Houston. Hosted by Music Doing Good’s President’s Leadership Council, the event took place at Evin Thayer Studio and was attended by more than 100 guests. Members of the President’s Leadership Council also include Bill Baldwin, President, Boulevard Realty; Susan Bradford, Senior Development Officer, University of St. Thomas; David Chambers, Chief Development Officer, Houston Symphony; Kimberly Cutchall, President and CEO of Accendo International; Andrew Davis, Director of Moore School of Music, University of Houston; Dee Dee Dochen, Owner, DDD Marketing Communications; Linda Lorelle, President and Executive Producer, Lorelle Media, LLC; John Reger and Anna Arispe, Owners, Wig 4 Wig; and honorary member, Dr. David Ashley White, former Director of Moores Schools of Music, University of Houston. Other guests included Music Doing Good supporters, Philamena Baird and Anne Stewart. Sponsors for the event included Forshey Piano Company and Macaron by Patisse. Music Doing Good inspires and transforms children’s lives through innovative, music-based programming and performance experiences. Our outreach programs bring musical enrichment to children in Houston who need it the most. The programs use music to stimulate minds, spark creativity and ignite imagination. Music Doing Good in Schools engages the whole child in an after-school music and theater program designed to educate and empower participants, culminating in a student-driven performance in one of Houston’s premier performing arts venues. Music Doing Good with Instruments collects, refurbishes and grants free gently-used instruments to underserved children and underfunded school districts. Music Doing Good with Scholarships grants awards to fund lessons and tuition to students in grades 6 – 12, who display financial need and exceptional musical talent.
