We are Grateful for Your Generosity!

As 2017 came to a close, Music Doing Good hosted “Generosity,” the final concert of the year at Chateau Carnarvon. It was a very special evening for all who joined us. The event raised more than $25,000 for the Music Doing Good College-Bound Scholarship Program. No other Music Doing Good concert to date featured more student performers than we had on December 7th.

The Crockett Elementary School Orchestra kicked off the evening with traditional holiday music. Music Doing Good with Instruments granted the program 9 violas earlier in the year. We were thrilled to see and hear how they’ve put these instruments to good use and how truly grateful they were to receive them!

In 2017, Music Doing Good gained a valuable community partner in Northwestern Mutual when they hosted a pre-Super Bowl party at Chateau Carnarvon, which raised $100,000 worth of in-kind donations and netted $30,000 in support of President’s Leadership Council  scholarships. At the “Generosity” concert, they presented us with an additional $30,000 to support the College-Bound Scholarship program at University of Houston in the coming year. The “big checks” were presented by many of the executives. We are elated to call Northwestern Mutual a partner and sponsor and look forward to a productive 2018.

Performing along with the Music Doing Good artists were scholarship recipients Bryant Li, Daniel Boyd, Brianna Lindsey, Tyler Henderson (accompanied by Josh Green and Gus Allen). The caliber and talent of these young musicians extends far beyond their years. It is safe to say that their futures in music are very promising.

The holiday sparkle was in full bling with the addition of iTouch Diamonds, who displayed their incredible jewelry for holiday shoppers. With their generosity, a portion of the proceeds from their sales were donated to Music Doing Good. They also donated two unique and timeless pieces of jewelry to our silent auction. We look forward to collaborating with iTouch Diamonds in 2018 as well.

We are grateful to all of our silent auction donors, whose gifts enabled us to meet our fundraising goal. Special thanks go to Texas Capital Bank; Rafik Tadrous at Genesis Corporate Transportation; David Chambers for Houston Symphony tickets; Herschel Teper and Silverlust; The Eye Gallery; Lord Andrew Couture; St. Cecilia Chamber Music Society; King Chiropractic; Insperity; Marie LeNotre; and Marianne Bruvel.

“Generosity” was an opportunity to thank everyone who has supported Music Doing Good in 2017, as well as an opportunity for our young musicians to gain experience performing in front of a live audience. And that’s what we call ending 2017 on a high note!!
