Student Brings Arts and Music to Remote Area of China

Music Doing Good Scholarship Recipient Zoe Zhang is much more than just a talented musician. Zoe spent last summer working closely with a group of Uyghur children in western China, where they are an ethnic minority.  The children she lived with rarely have the opportunity to travel beyond their villages and gain exposure to outside communities. Zoe used music and arts to teach them English as well as other cultural skills.

This summer, Zoe will travel back to China to work with these students again. In order to help them cultivate an art skill and inspire them to find inspiration and beauty in their daily lives, Zoe is providing new and lightly used digital cameras to these students free of charge. If you can help Zoe spread art to these children, she is looking for working digital cameras (ideally still with batteries and cables) to take to China. If you would like to donate one, please respond to this email or email Zoe directly.

One of the areas of evaluation for our scholarship program is how the student is “doing good” with their music. We are proud to see Zoe’s work helping others! She is a model scholarship student, and we are honored by her ambassadorship!
