Music Doing Good in Schools

Music Doing Good in Schools engages the whole child in an innovative fine arts program designed to educate and empower students of Title 1 schools, culminating in a dynamic student-driven performance at one of Houston’s premier performing arts venues.

Our program extends beyond the music to strengthen families, schools and communities. Our TEKS-aligned program challenges students to think creatively, develop leadership skills and hone their craft of self-expression.

Music Doing Good in Service

Music Doing Good in Service provides instrumental accompaniment for school music programs in need.

Too many schools lack the fine arts budget to provide accompanists or additional staff members to provide adequate one-on-one opportunities for music students. Music Doing Good in Service provides talented musicians with experience as performers, educators, and conductors, allowing them to provide accompaniment, rehearsal direction, individual coaching, and more.

Music Doing Good with Instruments

Music Doing Good with Instruments collects, refurbishes and grants free gently-used instruments to underserved children and underfunded school districts.

Where music programs are scaled back or eliminated, instruments are often scarce. By partnering with individuals, organizations, and retail vendors, Music Doing Good with Instruments collects, refurbishes, and redistributes instruments to Houston-area children and underfunded schools.

President's Leadership Council

The President’s Leadership Council (PLC) is a group of community leaders dedicated to providing music scholarships to Houston’s economically challenged students. The College-Bound Fund provides scholarships for college students.

The PLC believes in the transformative power of music and its positive societal impact on individuals, families, schools and communities. The members raise money for the President’s Leadership Council College-Bound Fund, which awards 4-year scholarships to students studying music at Texas Southern University, University of St. Thomas and University of Houston, and 2-year scholarships to students studying music at Houston Community College. These scholarships are based on financial need. Donors are invited to attend musical showcases that highlight the children we serve through Music Doing Good’s outreach programs.
