Hip Hip Hooray for Pianist, Bryant Li!

We are always excited to hear from our scholarship recipients about their achievements and accolades! Some of you may remember seeing Bryant Li perform at the final concert of 2017 entitled, “Gratitude.” Bryant is an eighth grader at Beckendorff Junior High in Katy ISD. He has been studying piano for the last seven years and has been a Music Doing Good Scholarship recipient since 2016.

Bryant also took over from Nathaniel Zhang as administrator of the nonprofit volunteer organization, Music of Harmony, which “does good” in the community by playing concerts for retirement homes and assisted living facilities in Katy and Sugar Land. This past quarter, the members of Music of Harmony performed 28 concerts to bring joy into the lives of local seniors!

But, Bryant’s latest achievement has us all cheering him on! He won the Texas Division of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Junior Piano Competition on Oct 28, 2018, which qualifies him to compete as a Division Finalist in the South Central Division for Junior Piano. The winner of the division competition will compete in the National Finals during the MTNA National Conference in Spokane, Washington in March of 2019. Music Doing Good has always seen Bryant as a shining star and he continues to WOW us, each and every day!

Music Teachers National Association is a nonprofit organization comprised of 20,000 independent and collegiate music teachers committed to advancing the value of music study and music making to society and to supporting the professionalism of music teachers. Please join us in congratulating this incredibly talented young musician. We will certainly keep you informed of his progress in this competition.
